Which course fits what you actually need

Fourteen course types sounds like a lot until you see how they group. Almost every student lands in one of four, and the choice comes down to three questions: how much do you want to speak, what are you preparing for, and how many weeks do you have.

A note before the list: Talk's courses combine one-on-one and group lessons. These are not native-speaker classes — Clark as a district has a large Western expatriate population, but the teachers who work with students at Talk are Filipino.

Intensive one-on-one

TALK4 · TALK6

Who it suits
You want the maximum number of hours where you personally are the one speaking.
How it runs
Every lesson is you and one teacher. There is nowhere to hide, which is the point — in a group of twelve, a three-hour day gives you perhaps thirty minutes of your own speech.
Length
Works from 4 weeks. Past 12 weeks most students add group classes for variety.

Hybrid — one-on-one plus group

TALK4/6 Hybrid A · J

Who it suits
You want the drilling of one-on-one but also need to hold your own in a room with other people.
How it runs
One-on-one for your weak points, group for the thing one-on-one cannot teach: speaking up when you are not the only one. A and J differ in teaching emphasis — A leans toward practical communication, J toward grammar and precision.

The most common choice at every length. Four out of five of our student reviews are on a Hybrid course.

Exam and workplace

Who it suits
You have a number to hit or a specific situation to survive — a presentation, an interview, a score.
How it runs
Heavier one-on-one weighting, built around the format of what you are preparing for. Score courses run on past papers and timed practice, not general conversation.
Length
Score movement needs time. Below 8 weeks, treat it as building the base rather than chasing the number.

Specialist tracks

Who it suits
English is one half of why you are coming. The other half is golf, a career skill, work experience, or a child's schooling.
How it runs
Lessons in the morning, the other thing in the afternoon. Because the second activity also runs in English, contact hours are higher than the timetable suggests.
Length
Varies by track. Golf and Barista work short; Internship and Junior are long-stay by design.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change course after I arrive?
Usually yes, at a week boundary and subject to teacher availability. Ask your agency to confirm before you book, since the answer affects which course you should start on.
What is the difference between Hybrid A and Hybrid J?
The teaching emphasis. A leans toward practical communication and getting you talking; J leans toward grammar and precision. Same lesson counts.
I am a complete beginner. Which course?
Start with a one-on-one-heavy course. Beginners show the most visible progress in that format, because nothing moves on until you have said it.
Do the courses include accommodation and meals?
Residential programs include the dormitory and three meals on weekdays. There is no meal service on Saturdays, Sundays or Philippine public holidays. Meal rules differ from school to school, so confirm the detail with your agency.
